In tropical water lilies, there are day blooming cultivars and night bloomers. Like their hardy counterparts, the flowers of the day-bloomers open around 9 a.m. and close around 4 p.m. Night-blooming tropicals open after the sun sets and stay open the next morning until sometime between 10 and 12.
